i see what you are saying about 89, as a big time pistons fan (ryan can vouch for that, lord knows ive annoyed him in the past) i can remember the bad boys. you are missing one big thing about the bad boys was they had a dominant big man. it is the only piece that you cant win without in the east. look at what the cavs did…they got shaq (albeit an older version of his former self but still big none-the-less). then you got big D in orlando. KG in boston and bosh in toronto. those elite teams (yes i put toronto up there as well) have one thing that the pistons wont have and that is a big-time center. that being said i make my second point- dumars is (hopefully) not done making moves. as long as he keeps (in my opinion) the two best players on his team in rip and teyshawn we will be alright. those two are really all that is left of what was in 04 and 05. my question is where was maxiell in 05? we prolly woulda beat the spurs that year….man that series still hurts…….

You are a little young to remember, but Joe Dumars was part of the 1989 and 1990 NBA Detroit Pistons Championship teams. I am sure you only heard about this team versus experiencing them for these seasons. They had a great 3 guard rotation of Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, and Vinnie Johnson. It worked very well. In fact, Vinnie and Ben Gordon are similar, except Ben is a little better 3 point shooter. Joe is thinking of this type of depth for a few years eventually Ben will replace Rip. Believe me, I don’t know Joe well, but spent time with him at his house in the past. He is thinking about winning with two new guys, who have won on the college level. And he feels he can mold this trio because of his experience and with the experience of the coach he will have on Monday with his experience as a championship guard. Charlie is a hungry guy, who is still young with the experience of a champion. I am a former championship coach… you should bring winners on-board your team when available, position and financial.

I enjoy your writing, but I have some experience here.

Good luck and congrats on finishing UNH! Love the hockey there.

P.S.
Keep my thoughts in consideration… by the way. Do we think Joe is done with his moves. Would he tell the public that he is also making a trade or just make the trade. Does Obama tell the media that he has covert operations in Iran post-election, so he could look like an inexperienced idiot, or does he just make it happen.
