People think he is only good at threes because he is so good at it that is all they see on highlights and that stuff. Especially before he had ankle surgeries he used to be even better. He is the best 3 point shoooter right now and in top 5 ever though.

The way PP carried the team was amazing, his energy was contagious.

However, I don’t see any signs of the MRI scan..its a shame that a player of that caliber needs to resort to cheap tricks like “Popping Knee” for sympathy of fans.

I agree that at the time of the impact or injury he may have thought of the worst, but once he got the attention he really rode the wave…

Fake or not, PP did play and more importantly led like an MVP

Someone commented that this article is based on stats, it is, but numbers are what win the game when it comes down to it. The C’s won, according to rules, because they had more points on the board than the Lakers did.

However, I agree that Paul Pierce was the right choice. Not the sentimental choice or the obvious choice, but the deserving choice. Basketball is won by points, but it also won by sheer determination. Paul is the master of sheer determination, and when you look at how he led the C’s you’ll see that there was no way anyone else could win the trophy.

Ray Allen is a superb player and he did incredibly well in the finals, offensively and defensively. But there is no way the role he played can overshadow the dominance of Paul Pierce!

Kg has been strugling a little. PP never struggles.Ray Allen wuz ofcourse not get it even though hes a good player. RA wouldnt get it cuz he wuz struggling all sereis. Plus even though hes good, hes only good at 3 pointers.

Game four was more Paul Pierce then Ray Allen, Ray ALlen had him by a point , some three pointers…but 7 assists to 2 for Pierce. Dr. Anklesnap, little mistake in that tally.

Pierce is the heart of the Celtics always has been, he never quit in one game this year or in the playoffs. Ray Ray only woke up in the last game against the Pistons…he really coasted for all the earlier games.

Btw – whatever record Ray set for 3 pointers is completely irrelevant. Ray was still dropping threes when they were up 30 points and the Lakers stopped caring. Lakers gave up that game after half time…they stopped caring, Boston kept their big guys in and they kept scoring. Yes, Ray Allen did have 7 3 pointers where the majority came in after the half.

Might as well start boasting about when Robinson won the scoring championship in the 90s because he scored 71 points in his last game, because his team wanted him to win the scoring title over shaq ….

Now, I personally was hoping that Ray and Paul could be co-MVP, but one thing you don’t seem to have taken into account is the leadership that Pierce has demonstrated on both ends of the floor. He’s really become the complete package, he does it all. And as for Game 4, he not only defended Kobe better than I’ve ever seen, he showed true leadership by DEMANDING the assignment during half time.

Paul Pierce is the MVP of the Celtics season, and the MVP of these Finals. He earned that award, no ifs ands or buts.

It’s true that Garnett would have been also a worthy candidate. But he already got defensive player of the year and struggled a couple games in the finals. Garnett form his post-game interviews seemed happy enough with his championship LOL

He might have gone completely loco if he got the MVP too!! Haha Maybe it wouldn’t have been safe for bystanders if he got any hapier than he already was. LOL

He was unselfish on the floor and a good leader on and off the floor. He gave his teammates the oppportunity and room to operate and score.

Everytime the lost, he always said it is his fault. His teammates don’t even say that.

But Garnett gave up his opportunity to become MVP by saying from the start that this team is Paul’s team. He is there to help him and help the Celtics win.

I agree dude, PP was definitely the team’s leader the entire playoff run. I think about KG had a few struggles, and Ray struggled for two full series.

It was pretty close in the actual finals though. I still say that the choice was right in PP. I’m very happy for Allen and KG that they finally got their much deserved titles and rings to come.

I think Celtics will win it all again next year!

Much to almost everyone surprise (except C’s fan) PP was the leader and go to guy for the C’s team.

In big moments where KG seemed to melt down a bit under the stress PP was able to step up and take control.

And BTW PP deserves a pass on that ‘steal’ because its actually a foul.

yeah but that was just one game. the article here breaks it down game by game, so I guess that would only count for game one mvp edge for pierce.

I think Ray Allen deserved more based on performance in finals.

Yup, whichever side of ‘belief’ you fall on.
